The Moremi is a Botswana safari icon, and is best described as an amalgamation of rivers, flooded pans, forest and open plains. The Moremi was established in 1963 by the BaTswana people, and is the only officially protected area of the Okavango Delta and holds significant scientific, environmental and conservation importance.
Situated in the central and eastern areas of the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve includes prominent geographical features such as Chief’s Island, Mopane Tongue and Mombo Island. Here land and water meet, and the nutrient-rich sediment supports excellent vegetation growth resulting in many herbivores and a wake of predators never far behind.
