Start your day 2 of this Uganda Gorilla trekking safari with a delicious breakfast, Then your guide will collect you at 06.30 for a transfer to the airport for a 07:00 flight through to Kihihi airstrip. Estimated time of arrival is 09:25. From here transfer to your 5* camp called Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp in the Bwindi forest, which is considered Africa’s oldest rainforest. This gorilla experience takes place among a rugged landscape of dense jungle, cascading waterfalls, sparkling mountain streams, deep valleys, and steep ridges. The untouched forest has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Upon arrival at the camp, dine in the restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon partake in a Batwa cultural experience. This is a nature-walk through the forest seeing the forest in a new way and you will visit a small village in the area. At the village you can see the Batwa tribe who live in tree houses and they demonstrate how they dance and make fire with sticks and how they cook.

After an early morning breakfast, you will be collected for the day’s half day gorilla trek. At 07:00 there is transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing at the rangers station and a talk by one of the rangers. From here start the gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi. This can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 5-6 hours and a reasonable degree of fitness is required.
Once you are near the gorillas you have time to marvel at the sheer size of this last remaining mountain gorillas, which is an extraordinary feeling. Return around 13:00 in time for lunch and relax in the afternoon. Transfers will be in 4 WD safari Land Cruisers.
Gorilla trekking
Have a hearty breakfast and then join a hike to Munyaga River which takes about 3 hours to the end point of Buhoma road via Bizinge creek. This is a very scenic trail which ascends through the evergreen and montane marshes that intertwine across the forest floor. It is suitable for all fitness levels and allows you to get up close with the beauty of the forest.
In the afternoon and evening enjoy an non-alcoholic or alcoholic beverage in the cosy bar and then dine in on delicious fare in the dining cottage that overlooks the rainforest.
Hike to Munyaga River
Wave goodbye to the friendly and professional staff at Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp before being transferred at 08:00 back to Entebbe. The light aircraft flight departs at 09:45 and lands at Entebbe at 11:25.
